I just got an email that my Friendly Local Game Store (FLGS), Bad Moo Games, is closing, moving, and merging with a hitherto competitor. I have mentioned Bad Moo games in New Providence, NJ as the supplier of my two-year-old daughters Cowthulhu T-shirt.
Although, they won’t be that much farther away (a 25 minute drive is becoming either 40 or 60 minutes depending on which location I choose to frequent), I have to say I will miss them in New Providence. I always try to give my custom to FLGS’s because I want them to continue to be there for me (i.e., exist). Online shopping is great and all, but there’s something to be said about being able to touch your games before you buy….and many FLGS’s have places to play games and regular events (tournaments, ongoing campaigns, game demos). Bad Moo had all these things and apparently will continue to do so with their new partner Dark Tower Games. From the look of Dark Towers website, this looks like it may be a good move as they appear to be a larger operation than Bad Moo. I will have to make a foray there to check them out.

Greetings Friends,
Yes, it’s true. The time has come for BAD MOO to leave New Providence . Two main factors contributed to this decision; first and foremost, we’re just not making enough money at this location to survive, secondly, our building is set to be sold, we don’t know when, so rather than get kicked out at the owners convenience, we’re leaving on our terms.
I know you’ll have a lot of questions, so I’ll try answer then here. If you have further questions please feel free to ask me.
When will you be closing?
BAD MOO will close its 80 South Street location at the end of February. Until then we will still run the store as usual, we’ll still have all our regular tournaments and our regular hours.
Where are you going?
BAD MOO is going to join forces with Dark Tower Games. http://www.darktowergames.net/ AND WE’LL HAVE TWO LOCATIONS; one 18 miles away at 3130 Route 10 West in Denville and the other a little further west at 126 Route 10 West in Succasunna. Our hope is to combine our areas of expertise in the business and create the biggest entertainment stores in New Jersey selling the best in face to face games, comic books and manga, sports cards, game/comic/sports collectibles, used video games and anime DVDs, and more!
Will you still be selling on-line?
Yes! BAD MOO and Dark Tower will combine websites, and with our combined buying power we’ll be able offer even more great items online.
What will happen to the Comic Book Club?
All of our current comic book customers are encouraged to continue their subscriptions with us. If you plan and are able to visit us in Denville or Succasunna we can continue your box there, or you can become a mail order customer. I WILL SEND ANOTHER E-MAIL WITH MORE DETAILS.
Will you still be running tournaments?
Yes. The days of the week may change, but you’ll still be able to play your favorite games and against even more opponents. Check our website at the end of February for new dates and times.
Will you still be running your annual special events?
Yes. We will still be participating in Free Comic Book Day, National Games Week, 24 Hour Comic Challenge, Topps Player of the Day and Card of the Week Programs, Major League Baseball Card Clubhouse program for Scouts, and we’re still available for Birthday Parties. Additionally, our bigger location will allow us to do signings with Comic Book Artists and other celebrities, as well as major release and pre-release events for your favorite games.
I still have gift certificates for BAD MOO, will I be able to use them at Dark Tower ?
Yes. We will honor BAD MOO gift certificates.
Are you sad to be leaving?
Very. We’ve made a lot of great friends over the past two years. I hope that you will be able to visit us at the new locations, but we understand if it is difficult. Danielle WILL join us at the new store, so you can visit her too.
